Monday 14th February 2011
Just a quick letter to remind you of a couple of up and coming events within school.
The Friends of Anagh Coar School (FOACS) have organised their annual Valentine’s Disco to take place this Thursday (17th February) from 6.00 - 7.30pm. Reception class are welcome to come along to this but they must be accompanied by an adult.
Years 4/5/6 Football Club - Millennium Tournament Training
Following our Year 5 and 6 only training session last Thursday - football club is now open to the Year 4s. This is so that we can get training for the Millennium Football Tournament and pick a team made up of pupils from Years 4 - 6. If your child is picked they will be representing the school in the tournament on Saturday 14th May 2011 at Union Mills Football Club. Further details will follow for those involved.
World Book Day - 3rd March 2011
We are celebrating World Book Day again this year on Thursday 3rd March 2011. We would like children to come into school dressed as their favourite characters from books. There will be prizes for the best costumes from each class. We will have a whole range of activities planned around the theme of reading and books for the day and will hopefully have lots of fun!
RNLI SOS Day - Thank you
Thank you for your support for our ‘Pirate Day’ where lots of children dressed as pirates and raised money for the Lifeboat Institute. We managed to raise just over £100.
The Leprosy Mission - Used Stamp Collection
A representative from The Leprosy Mission came into school last Monday to tell us all about the work they do around the world to help people with leprosy. We found out that we can help to raise money for the charity by collecting used stamps. If you have any used stamps please cut them neatly off envelopes or postcards (leaving about a 1 cm border) and send them in with your child so that they can be put in our collection box and sent off to help leprosy sufferers. Thank you.
NSC Sports, Swimming and MSR Sports Coaching
Please note that swimming, sports and sports coaching sessions remain the same for the second half of the Spring Term. Following an incident today, please can you make sure children do not bring spray or glass roll-on deodorants to school. Plastic roll-on deodorants only please, if it is really needed.
If you would like any further information about any of the items mentioned in this letter please get in touch. We hope you all have an enjoyable half term break with your children and look forward to seeing them back at school on Monday 28th February.
Mr. Rob Coole
