Year 2 have been developing their RELATIONSHIPS skills this term by learning to organise their letter sounds in groups. Look at how well they got on...
Year 2 have enjoyed yoga this term. We have learned how to relax and stay calm! Over the weeks we have learned lots of postures sometimes related to Nature or Animals.
Here we are moving leaves with our feet.
Some of us think the best part is when we snuggle down under the soft blanket and relax at the end of the session!
We are looking forward to carrying on in the New Year.
These photos look like the girls are the best but actually some of the boys are really good too!
Year 2 worked hard in their science topic on Electricity, and every one made a circuit!
Year 2 have worked hard learning the 2x table and the 5x table. We are getting good at multiplications. Well done Year 2 you worked really hard!
What a lovely party we had.
Cookie the clown made us laugh, we had lovely party food and Santa came to visit us! Happy Christmas every one
Year 2 have started the new term working hard learning about fractions. They have had great fun using the playdough to help them to learn all about halves and quarters. What a great start to the New Year! Well done everybody!
3FM Class of the Week
Year 2 were nominated as Class of the Week on Wednesday 30th January 2013. They sang brilliantly when 3FM visited the school and were heard on the radio on Thursday 31st January at 8.15am. Listen to the full song here:
Museum visit today. HOMES IN THE PAST. Wednesday 6th March 2013.
After our lunch today Year 2 went on a coach to the Museum to learn about homes in the past as part of our Homes topic. Mrs Merriman very kindly came with us. We had a very interesting time looking at how clothes used to be washed, how food was cooked and all sorts of other interesting household items. After that we went down into the main part of the museum to look in the old Manx cottage. It was very dark!
We listened really well to Christine and could answer all her questions.
We drew lots of pictures of all the items from the olden days.
We are looking forward to performing our class assembly all about our topic.
We had a great afternoon.
Thanks once again Mrs Merriman.
Friday 8th March 2013
World Book Day
We had lots of interesting characters in Year 2 today. All our favourite books came to life! During the afternoon we shared some of our new story books with class 4/5.
Year 2 and Year 4/5 split into two groups and then paired up in both classrooms.
There was a lot of good listening going on today.
I think Izzy's glasses helped her read extra well today! Where's your Ark, Noah?
The Year 4/5 children were very patient with Year 2 even the ones who got up and wandered off!
There were lots of evacuees reading today.
Someone looks like he is concentrating. Well done Action Man.
I didn't know Christmas trees could read. How clever.
I saw a lot of Harry Potter today.
We had a really good day. Thank you everyone.
We have been doing lots of work about directions, and we all worked really hard in the quiet room in our maths groups.
On Friday 12th April we highlighted all of the learning we put into our homes topic by performing our class assembly. The children showed clay tiles made to look like houses, computer programme skills, graphs and kidspiration, singing, dancing, reading stories they had written, talking about the museum visit and much more. Everyone was very impressed.
Slide show to follow!
As you can see Class 2 put in a lot of effort to complete their 'homes' topic and we have just started our 'pets' topic which we think we will enjoy just as much. Thank you all for supporting us by coming to the assembly and in other ways.
Yesterday ( Tuesday 23rd April ) as part of our pets topic Class 2 along with Mrs Boyle and Mrs Merriman visited Ard Jerkyll. We all enjoyed the experience but for me the highlight was Orry the dancing cockateel. He needs to enter Anagh Coars got talent!
There were lots of different animals to look at..... cats.........
........birds, lambs and other cute things...........
where is that dog ?
One of the things the children seemed to find fascinating was when Jenny told them all about how animals are chipped. They liked using the scanner.
Look at all the leads for when the dogs go for a walk.
We also saw the big washing machine for all of the animals blankets and where the animals are weighed.
We will be using our memories of our trip to write a report today. We have got lots of interesting things to talk about as we found out all about looking after pets.
Thank you Mrs Boyle and Mrs Merriman.
Year 2 held a cake sale on Friday 10th May to raise funds for the MSPCA following their trip to Ard Jerkyll. They raised £110.
Thank you so much to all the parents for the lovely cakes they made, and thank you to the rest of the school for coming and buying them!
