Election of Parent Governor
Thank you to the parents who have agreed to stand for the election of a new member for our governing body. Please see the attached sheets for the next stage in the process.
Please could parents check their children’s home bags each evening for newsletters and particularly letters informing you of any head injuries occurring during the day. Children who have had a head bump, bang to the nose etc. will also have a sticker on their jumper alerting you to the injury.
We are becoming increasingly concerned at the speed of cars along the lane outside school particularly in the mornings when parents are rushing to work. The police have been informed and will be noting drivers giving cause for concern. Could we ask everyone to drive slowly and carefully outside both school entrances. Thank you for your co-operation.
Reading at Home
Now that Reception children are starting to take home books to read, it might be useful to remind parents of the coding we use on your child’s reading comment sheet to record progress. A star (*) indicates an aspect of reading in which your child is performing well.
An arrow --- indicates the next aspect to focus upon. At the bottom of the Reading Comment Sheets are boxes with the days of the week. Please tick the box if your child has read at home. Four ticks entitles your child to an extra sticker on their card. Reading for ten minutes a night will make a huge difference to their progress. Thank you for your support.
After School Club
If your child is collected by an After School Club from Ballaquayle, please could you complete the attached slip in order that we have a record of which Nursery/Children’s Centre your child attends and on which afternoons. If these arrangements change you are requested to inform the school on the day, in addition to informing the after school club.
External Visits – Permission Slips
We are still outstanding some permission slips for some Year 1 and Year 2 children. Please could these be returned to the school as soon as possible as we are unable to take your child out of school before the slip has been signed. If you have mislaid the slip please call at the school office for a new one. Thank you.
Juice/Milk and Snack Money
Any parents that still owe juice/milk and/or snack money, please could they send the due amount into the office as soon as possible, in an envelope marked with the child’s name. A reminder of the amounts due are as follows:
Juice and Snack Juice/milk only Snack only
Half term is £13.60 Half term is £6.80 Half term is £6.80
Full term is £27.60 Full term is £13.80 Full term is £13.80
Please also advise, if you haven’t already done so, if your child is not having any juice or snack.
Parents’ Questions and Suggestions Box
We are always looking for ways to improve all aspects of school life. If you have an idea please write it down and post it in the box outside the school office. If there is an aspect of school life which you do not understand, please put your question in the box. We will either reply individually or put a response in the newsletter if it applies to several parents.
