Parent Governor Election
Following last night’s election I am able to inform you that voting was as follows:
Number of votes cast for Mrs Mai Fuller 23
Number of votes cast for Mrs Tracie Hepworth 6
Number of ballot papers declared invalid 0
Thank you to both parents for volunteering to stand for this position.
Mrs Fuller will be the parent representative on the governing body and her contact telephone number is 408532.
We hold a large raffle at our “Christmas Cracker” and are in the process of writing to companies asking for raffle prizes. If anyone knows of a company that may be willing to offer a prize or issue a voucher, please contact the school office.
Marie Curie Mini Pots of Care
Marie Curie Cancer Care is inviting all children to get their hands dirty this term by growing their own daffodils for the charity’s Mini Pots of Care fundraising activity. If you would like to take part, please send a donation, in a named envelope into school by next Friday (14th October). At the end of the week, all children who wish to take part will receive their own pot and daffodil to take home and plant. The children can then care for their flower over the winter months to reflect the work of Marie Curie Nurses who provide free care for patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.
In Spring, when the daffodils bloom, the children will be able to paint their pots before giving them to someone they care about. There is no obligation to take part in this fundraiser, it is entirely voluntary.
Friends of Ballaquayle
Just a reminder that the first meeting this year for “The Friends of Ballaquayle” will be held this Friday (7th October) at 2.30 pm in the staff room. We will arrange fund-raising and social events for the term at this meeting. Any parents/carers/grandparents are welcome to attend. Pre-school children are welcome at the meeting. Refreshments will be provided. We would be very pleased to see some of our new parents at this meeting.
A request from the staff! Please could any parents who would like their child to share a birthday cake with the class either bring the cake pieces cut up and wrapped ready to send home or bring individual small cakes to hand to the children at home time. Thank you for your co-operation.
Could I remind parents that if a child needs to be absent from school for a hospital/doctor/dentist appointment, for this to be classed as authorised absence, the appointment needs to be confirmed either by production of an appointment card or by a letter from the child’s parent/carer. Thank you.
At the end of July we asked parents to give their judgements and views on various aspects of the school. Please find attached the conclusions from the analysis of your responses. We find your views very useful when making future decisions/changes for the benefit of all those involved in Ballaquayle School. We are already looking at providing both daytime and evening workshops for Reception parents based on your responses.
