Amalgamation of Ballaquayle Infants School and Murray’s Road Junior School
Recent ill health has resulted in Mr Taylor, headteacher of Murray’s Road School, making the decision to step down from his post and return to classroom teaching on the island. This will take place at the February half term.
It has been the Department of Education and Children’s long term aim to combine the two schools under a single headteacher. I have been asked to take on the role of headteacher of both schools as from 27th February. The Department will shortly be taking the necessary action to formally amalgamate the schools.
This should ensure even greater continuity and consistency for the children as they move between the two sites.
I am both delighted and excited to have been given this opportunity to bring the two schools together. My role over the next year or so will be very much about establishing a single identity for the two schools so that pupils are able to progress smoothly from Key Stage 1 at Ballaquayle to Key Stage 2 at Murray’s Road.
Can I reassure you that Ballaquayle School will still be as important to me as it has always been and an amalgamation will be of great benefit to all Ballaquayle pupils.
Mrs L Green
