Rushen Silver Band Carol Evening

The final week of term got off to an excellent start last night with our annual Rushen Silver Band Carol evening. The band played plenty of carols and Christmas songs to get us into the festive spirit, the children sang Away in a Manger and there was a visit from Father Christmas! Many thanks to everyone involved in the organisation of the event.

Singing Christmas Songs

We were so proud of Woodland Class as they sang Christmas songs at the Ballasalla Senior Citizens Christmas meal at the Whitestone Inn. They even got to meet Santa!

Christmas Jumpers!

Christmas music playing, mince pies on the staffroom table and some lovely festive jumpers on display in school today. The countdown to Christmas has begun! Thank you for your donations of bottles and chocolate for the Christmas Fair on Friday. Well done to everyone for taking part.

Mountain Day at Ardwhallan

Willow Class spent a wonderful day up at Ardwhallan learning some mountaineering skills. Everyone had a fantastic time. Many thanks to the staff at Ardwhallan for organising such a great day!

Library Open for Business

Our newly relocated school library is now open and while we await new library seating and furniture, parents are invited to come along any day after school to choose a book with their child. Please log any book you borrow in the Library Signing Out Folder and remember to bring it back to school when you have finished reading it so someone else can borrow it. Happy Reading!

Children in Need - Onesies!

The children all looked fantastic this morning in their onesies in support of Children in Need. We even had a frog taking assembly this morning. Donations and wristband sales have raised over £130. Well done and thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Children in Need - Friday 13th November

Welcome back to the second half of this term and the six week run up to Christmas. Before we get carried away with tinsel and baubles remember we are supporting Children in Need this Friday, 13th November. Pupils are asked to come into school dressed in a onesie (or PJs) and bring in a teddy and make a donation to the appeal. We are also selling Children in Need wristbands this week for a £1 donation. Available now from the School Office.

Hop tu Naa Disco

The School Hall looked amazing last night for the Friends of Ballasalla School Hop tu Naa Disco! The children all made a fabulous effort dressing up for the occasion. Even a few teachers were spotted in disguise. Many thanks to everyone who helped to organise the event.

Sri Lankan visit to Willow Class

Barbara Praesoody the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Ceylon visited children in Willow Class this week to talk about what it is like living in Sri Lanka and what schools in Sri Lanka are like. Many thanks to Rosemary at the One World Centre for organising this visit for us.

Fairy Potions

Woodland Class have been having a magical time making Fairy Potions today. After having experimented with red cabbage, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, imaginations ran wild with bubble bath, sequins, conkers and pasta to make some very impressive (and a little bit smelly!) potions.

Judo Lessons

Children have been enjoying a 5 week Judo course at the school, run by Judo Education in Mann. Many thanks to Richard Lloyd for bringing this opportunity for pupils to try Judo to our school.

Last Friday, Author and illustrator, Vikki Orwin, visited Woodland Class to read her book "Jetmalew's Island Adventures". The activity fitted in perfectly with the class's current topic of "Fairies and Giants". The children thoroughly enjoyed hearing about Jetmalew and his little motorbike.
