As we are preparing for secondary school, we will be studying the Transition Units in English, Maths and Science. The English transition unit is ‘Manx Myths and Legends’ and we are going to focus on this as our main topic. We will be writing newspaper articles inspired by these traditional tales and beliefs.
As musicians we will be listening to and learning local songs, both in English and in Manx.
As historians we will be looking at local folklore and superstitions. We will also look at how people lived in the past in these traditional beliefs and stories. We will also learn more about oral retelling of stories and how stories may change over time.
We will develop out Manx vocabulary and use phrases in Manx as part of retelling of stories.
As geographers we will focus on Manx Geography and how the landscape may be linked to characters in local folklore such as the Tarroo Ushey or water bull.
As artists, we will create artistic impressions of characters from Manx myths and legends.
We will also be focussing on our cycling as part of ‘Cycling Profiency’.
