The 'F' Factor

What a great morning. After weeks of auditions, undertaken by the School Council, the final 10 acts were ready to take to the stage. First up was Mascia, a great performance of singing and dancing. Next to the stage was 'Frozen' - Mimi, Ali and Keeva - a fantastic singing group. Fillip - The United Nations of Fairfield - entertained the audience by singing all of the countries of the world. Nikodem followed with his fantastic. The Comedians followed - Tom and Callum - and made everyone laugh. After the interval Kayleigh and Lillie may delighted the audience with their singing talent. Sam followed as 'The troublemaker' and showed off his strong voice and dance moves.KAPOW! were next up with a fantastic routine of skipping and singing. TJ took the stage and showed off his powerful voice. Jessica and Alicia were the final singing act of the morning. Our judges: Mr Winstanley, Miss Evans, Mrs Gill and Mrs Skinner then had the unenviable job of choosing the winner. It certainly was a difficult decision. While they were making their decision last year's winners - Authentic - performed a fantastic number with brilliant harmonies and great guitar playing. KAPOW! ran out worthy winners. Well done everyone.

Cross Country 2014

29 schools took part in this fantastic event. The weather was considerably more kind than last year though the ground was still extremely wet underfoot. All the pupils from all the schools ran brilliantly. Both the girls and the boys race were very competitive and very close at the finish. We had some fantastic individual results. Macy was first home for our girls and TJ first home for our boys. TJ finished second overall, a truly brilliant run. Well done everyone, thank you Mrs Halsall for all your support with our squad.

Maths Challenge

A number of our pupils in years 5 and 6 entered this year's Isle of Man Mathematical Society Challenge. There were a total of 109 entries form school across the island. Fairfield pupils did extremely well. Prizes were awarded for winners and two runners up in each year group. Sophia and Brindan were the two runners up in the year 6 category, Brintha won the Y5 category. This is a fantastic result and helps to showcase the abundance of talent we have within our school.

The Big Tidy Up 2014

Our year 3 and 4 pupils helped our local community on Friday 21st March. Suitable dressed in their 'Big Tidy Up' jackets and litter pickers and bin bags at the ready they took to the streets surrounding the school. They did a grand job and boy did they find lots of litter to pick up. It was great to see our pupils helping the local community in this way but it would have been better if there hadn't been any litter to pick up!

Public Speaking 2014

Joseph (Speaker), Sophia (Chair) and Macy (Vote of Thanks) all performed brilliantly. Our team were first to the stage. They delivered their speeches with confidence and enthusiasm. Sophia's introduction was warm, welcoming and amusing. Joseph followed with the main speech that was delivered in some style and held the audience's attention, he answered the judges question very well indeed. Macy finished the presentation professionally and thoughtfully. The standard of all the presentations on the evening was outstanding, the range of topics was broad and kept the large audience entranced for the whole evening. Congratulations the Cronk y Berry, the overall winners. We were delighted when Macy was presented with a special prize for her role as Vote of Thanks. All the team should be extremely proud of their achievements, they will remember the experience for a very long time.

Trees 4 Life 2014

The pupils in year 3 visited the Conrhenny Plantation today to plant their trees. The weather was misty and damp but this didn't dampen our spirits. The children loved digging the holes, hammering in the stakes, tying the trees to the stakes and then naming their trees. Everyone got a little muddy but that only added to the mornings adventures.

Christmas Concert 2013

Fairfield and Ballacloan came together to perform 'SingalongaChristmas'. The church was packed for both the afternoon and evening performances. On arrival the Reception children's Nativity was playing on the giant screen. After being welcomed by the Venerable Andie Brown the show got under way. 3\4W were first up performing 'Mary's Boy Child'. Next 3/4K sang 'Merry Christmas Everyone' followed by 3/4I's 'Rockin Around the Christmas Tree'. Year 1 then sang 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town'. To change the tone Macy, Natalia and Sophia played a lovely rendition of 'Hark the herald Angels' on the reorder. Year 2 got the singing going again with 'All I want for Christmas'. Year 5 then sang 'Merry Christmas Everybody' and Year 6 finished the class singing with 'Grandma got Knocked over by a Reindeer'. As all the children gathered on the stage for the final number year 1 and 2 delighted the audience with 'Away in a Manger' before all the pupils sang 'We are the World'. The concert finished with the whole church singing 'I wish it could be Christmas Everyday'. The performances were all terrific, the atmosphere in the church put everyone in the mood for Christmas. A fantastic effort form everyone.

Y5 Airport trip

The year 5 visited Ronaldsway Airport and experienced all the excitement of going away for Christmas, without the plane actually taking off. The pupils made their own passports, were checked in, went through security and boarded the plane where they were given safety instructions. They were allowed to visit the cockpit and were shown how the airport operated on a daily basis. The trip was a great success, all the children enjoyed the experience and left with a real insight into the day to day running of the airport. A big thank you to the staff of Ronaldsway for taking the time to put great smiles on the our pupils faces.

Christmas Dinners

Christmas dinners are always very popular with the children and staff and this year was no exception. The school provided the crackers, the staff served the children and we all sang along to Christmas songs.

Christmas Craft Fair

A fantastic evening of stalls and crafts organised by the friends of Ballacloan and Fairfield. The event was extremely well supported and everyone had a great time. The main hall was full of children making Christmas crafts. The lower hall was superbly decorated by Mrs Boulter and Mrs Quine - it looked splendid - was set aside for refreshments, Santa's Grotto, bottle stall, ballon modelling, lucky dip, the raffle and much more. The evening went fantastically well, there was a real Christmas buzz in the air. Thank you to all that supported us.
