In addition to acting as a base for the Music Service, Youth Choir, Workshops and administrative activities, the Music Centre St. Ninian's Lower School, Douglas, is a venue for a music lending library for educational use, a reference library, together with teaching, conference and rehearsal rooms which may be hired.
A team of peripatetic music teachers provides tuition in primary and secondary schools on a wide range of instruments and in singing. Children who do not own instruments can hire them from the Music Service.

The Manx Youth Orchestras and Manx Youth Guitar Ensembles meet on Saturday mornings during school terms. There are 10 groups: Junior String Orchestra, Junior Wind Band, the Manx Youth String Orchestra, The Manx Youth Wind Orchestra, Concert Band, Training Orchestra, The Manx Youth Orchestra, The Manx Youth Swing Band, Intermediate and Senior Guitar Ensembles. The senior Manx Youth Orchestra has undertaken several major foreign tours in its 40 year history and plays a wide variety of challenging music. It also acts as a musical ambassador for the Isle of Man.During recent years the MYOs have developed strong links with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and the Band of the Royal Marines (Scotland).
