In order to improve communication between School and yourselves I have set up a Twitter account. This will allow us to send out short factual messages e.g reminders about non uniform days.
If you wish to receive these messages you will need to set up your own free account with Twitter and then ‘follow’ the school. The account is set up as a private account in order to ensure that we are not giving out potentially sensitive information to those who do not need it. Therefore when you request to follow us it will not allow you to do so until I have approved this request. In order to make this job easier please could you return the form overleaf. As I am sure you will appreciate as it is a School run account we will not approve users with inappropriate or explicit user names.
We are quite happy to allow access to extended family members e.g. grandparents who will find the information useful as well. Please feel free to add their username on to the reply slip as well.
Twitter does allow for you to comment or reply to our messages, however we would prefer to use it simply for us to send messages to you. Whilst we always welcome comments and feedback, both good and bad, we would prefer to receive them directly rather than via a public forum. If you wish to comment please do so preferably by speaking directly to the school, or if this is not possible, then by e-mail, either email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org The reason behind this request is that anything you post is visible to all users, and unfortunately in this modern age even the most innocent of comments can be used by strangers to help them build up background knowledge about your child which could potentially be used in an unpleasant way. For this reason the school reserves the right to remove individual users if they do not follow this request.
We have chosen to use Twitter for this service as it will work on any computer, both Windows and Mac OSX, through your web browser and through dedicated Twitter applications, as well as the majority of smartphones. To register for a Twitter account or to find out more information please visit http://twitter.com/ (Please note that if you access it through a smartphone you may incur data usage charges from either Manx Telecom or Sure depending on the package you have with them. If you are unsure please contact them directly.)
User Name - ‘Jurbyschool’

If you have any suggestions or comments to make, both good or bad, about this service please feel free to e-mail me on firstname.lastname@example.org
