On the Friday of Manx Litfest (September 27-30), several of our authors, poets and performers will be out and about around the Island, visiting Manx schools to inspire and encourage children to read and write.
Working with the Department of Education and Children, we've created 'National Story Day', when participating schools will focus on books, reading and writing, with workshops and talks from their special guests for the day.
Stories written by a class (or school) can be uploaded onto a special wiki for the weekend and some of the stories may be read out on the Saturday/Sunday in the Family Marquee within the Villa Marina Gardens, where the main festival hub will be located.
Our thanks to all the schools who are taking part, and hopefully we can turn this schools' celebration of storytelling into a regular feature within future Manx Litfests.
