Welcome to sch.im Isle of Man Department of Education, Sport & Culture

Liven up your timetable with a trip to the Wildlife Park! If you don’t see a topic that suits you in the list below, please talk to us about what you would like to do and we will try to accommodate you.

When booking your trip, please give as much information as you can about your group and the areas you need covering, so that we can do our best to meet your requirements.

Hands-on encounters with some of the Park’s invertebrates and reptiles are normally included in the sessions.

Please remember that teachers are responsible for the behaviour of pupils whilst at the Park. We would appreciate it if you could ensure that they are adequately supervised at all times.

In this session we take a look at the scope of the earth’s biodiversity and discuss its importance to the human race. We examine the threats facing it and discuss how it can be conserved for the future.

In this detailed look at the richest and most complex ecosystems on the planet we explore the complex relationships between living things, and learn how destructive man’s behaviour has been in recent decades. A PowerPoint presentation and various rainforest biofacts are used to bring the topic to life.

This session examines the threats that face wildlife and discusses the role that zoos and wildlife parks can play in conserving it for the future. We look at the challenges that zoos have to meet in their goal to help safeguard endangered species.

This session studies the interdependence of living things, in particular looking at food chains/webs, the energy pyramid and the biomass pyramid.

We examine the process of evolution and how it has led to the huge variety of living things on earth. The session includes a detailed look at how some of the Park’s animals have adapted to their natural habitats.

Life Links looks at the life processes that define living things, and moves on to study the system used to classify all the species on earth.

If you wish to bring your students to the Park for a team-building or enrichment trip, with less focus on the curriculum, we can supply suitable trails and quizzes to keep them occupied. Please ask when you book. We can also provide a hands-on ANIMAL ENCOUNTER in the classroom or the rainforest theatre.
